[Aide] Is there any way to compile aide 0.17.x or master/latest on centos8/Almalinux or similar?

All there repos of centos, almalinux, rockylinux do only contain 0.16-x
versions.
I've tried a manual compilation, but even after a few hours of search no
success.

I found a few hints that others run into the same problem (e.g.
https://github.com/aide/aide/issues/126 ), but they were closed with the
advise to ask in this group.

So did anybody successful produced a rpm for centos8.5 or almalinux8.5
or similar?
... and can provide the way?
