You (propably) shouldn't use mmap. Try configure option --without-mmap

btw, if anyone is intrested, I have patch, which adds (read only, without 
gzip support) http/https/ftp database backend.

This means one can write something like 
"database=http://your.domain/%7Eaide/aide.@@{HOSTNAME}.db" to aide.conf.
