That is a really old version of the aide 0.13.1 package. You should 
consider upgrading to the
version from lenny at http://packages.debian.org/lenny/aide or if you do 
not want to upgrade to lenny just yet, the (older) backported etch 
version http://packages.debian.org/etch-backports/aide

If that doesn't help, seek help at the debian folks, perhaps using 
"reportbug".
