I've just submitted a fix for this rather odd behaviour from mmap()
on HP-UX, see patch 1474555
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?
func=detail&aid=1474555&group_id=86976&atid=581581
i got struck by this oddity last december, but failed to remember to
file the fix upstream, sorry.
